Learning how to Learn
One of our core focuses is to make learning easier for everyone. There is no point spending hours poring over your books and making copious notes if at the end of the day you only retain 10 percent of what you have been reading. Here are some pointers on how you can make learning a faster and more enjoyable process:
1. Remember that everyone has their own learning style. Your best friend may memorize things best by pacing up and down her room reading aloud to herself but you may learn better drawing diagrams and reading silently from a book
2. Your teacher's teaching style may be different from your learning style. Your teacher may explain things in a visual way when you are auditory. In our study skills courses we will teach you to adapt to your teachers learning style and succeed in your work.
3.There are three main learning styles, Visual, Auditary and Kinesthatic. Take our learning style test to discover your unique learning style and study according to that.
4. You do not need silence to study. Some people study best with music, some people need absolute silence and some people need the noise of chatter in the background. Tests have shown that the best results come from individuals who study with background music of 60 beats per mite as this roughly is in line with your heartbeat.
5. Colors are good. Among the skills we teach, we include mind mapping and note making. Your brain remembers things best in colors and pictures. However if your notes are a haphazard mix of colors you will end up confusing yourself. Colors should be used to enhance your notes and not to confuse you. Organize points, chapters and ideas by color. This gives your subconcious mind some clarity and logic.
Try out the tips above while you are studying for your next test!
